Serbian regulation to outlaw pesticides with banned substances comes into effect

Serbian produce just became a little bit healthier, as the country fell in line with EU regulation and outlawed the use of 113 pesticides in the country that contained 17 banned substances.

Serbia has increasingly faced returned produce and products, due to more stringent EU testing at the border, but in fact the 17 substances were banned in Serbia 18 months ago, although the final deadline for products containing the substances was Nov. 10, 2023, according to RTS, as cited by ekapija.com.

The site noted that Ministry of Agriculture Plant Protection Director Nebojsa Milosavljevic confirmed that the period for when the pesticides or other products could be used has now “expired” and that some 50 substances had already been banned over the past decade.
