Serbian state-owned telecom Telekom Srbija is reportedly preparing to sell assets in the form of telecommunications antenna poles and “accompanying equipment,” according to Serbian news sites.

This means some 1,827 poles, 995 of which are located in Serbia; 725 in Bosnia and Herzegovina and 107 in Montenegro, according to the ekapija news site, citing the BIRN investigative news site, which has recently suggested that the Serbian is selling a variety of assets.

That said, Telekom Srbija CEO Vladimir Lucic noted that this type o transaction is taking place both in Europe and beyond, as this provides “considerable funds” for company modernization.

He noted that the transaction, which was given up for tender, has not been completed, but that it will be lucrative for the company, which will then rent the poles back from the new owners.

Srbija Telecom has also been constructing new poles to prepare for 5G, according to ekapija.com.
