Serbian Foreign Ministry denies exporting rockets to Ukraine

In a rather unexpected twist Russia—seen as a long-time ally—accursed Serbia of having supplied missiles to Ukraine, a charge the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs fiercely denied.

“No weapons have been exported from Serbia to any parties to the conflict,” said Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic on Friday Feb. 3, as cited by various local and foreign media, including the Federal News Network and Fox News.  „Serbia does not deliver military equipment to any country that we believe would be problematic in any way.”

Russian news sources have repeatedly claimed that Serbian munitions, including rockets, were finding their way into Ukrainian hands, with Russian government representatives calling the issue “serious.”

One media report claimed that a single Serbian arms factory delivered 3,500 Grad missiles, and that they were exported to Ukraine via Turkey and Slovakia.

The war in Ukraine has now lasted more than one year, with some sources putting Russian casualties as high as 200,000.
