German IGB to open new plant in Lajkovac, will employ 200

German car parts manufacturer IGB Automotive will launch production in Serbia’s Lajkovac through its subsidiary, IGB Automotive Serbia, in early November, stated Serbian officials on Wednesday, Oct. 19, according to various local news outlets.

This is the third such production line, with IGB having opened first a plant in Indija in the Vojodina province, according to SEE News, in an investment valued at USD 4.4 mln in 2007. The company also boasts a EUR 2mln investment in Lazarevac and has employed a total of approximately 2,200 in Serbia.

The Lajkovac investment will add to this, with the company predicting 200 new hires, most of whom will be women.
