Battery cell producer ElevenEs’s new Subotica production facility is now “fully operational,” with the opening of the facility slated to become the company’s “Mega-Factory” in 2024, according to a company press release and CEO Nemanja Mikac.
“The expansion of our R&D center and opening of our first production facility in Serbia is a huge milestone for ElevenEs and the European battery cell market as a whole,” Mikac said. “We’re proud of our contribution to reducing the global footprint starting with our battery cells’ local production.”
The “Mega-Factory” will eventually produce enough battery cells to power one million batteries per year, with this broken down into 500 Mwh of production, focusing, but not limited to, C and D samples, the company said.
ElevenEs’s roadmap includes operating two “gigafactories,” with Giga-I producing 8GWh by 2026 and Giga-II producing 40G Wh by the end of 2027, at which point, the company will operate at a combined capacity of 48G Wh.
The company highlighted that it produces high-quality cost-effective battery cells, including the EDGE, is the first cobalt and nickel-free battery produced in Europe, which also utilizes a hundred percent renewable energy in the production process.

The company did not note the total investment in press materials, but previously it has stated that investment by 2024 should come to close to EUR 550 mln out of EUR 1 bln for the total investment, which projects factory development over the next six years, according to the news site ekapija.com.
