This week has been positive news for Serbia when it comes to business and potential investment, with Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak saying that Serbia has “huge potential” and US Ambassador Christopher Hill concurrently stating that he sees Serbia as eventually entering the EU even if Serbs themselves have their doubts.
Regarding the former, Wozniak noted Serbia’s potential will be shown a EXPO 27, and conversely, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic clearly welcomed any interest from Apple and Wozniak, as both Wozniak and his wife, Janet Hill, are now to receive Serbian citizenship, according to news site N1info.rs.
Nearly simultaneously, news site RTS remarked that US Ambassador Christopher Hill said he was confident that Serbia will eventually join the EU—even though Serbian citizens currently have doubts about this.
That said, Hill also stated that Serbia has “a responsibility […] to overcome historical legacies and a lack of trust” in the region.
„I believe that Serbia has a special responsibility in this, as it is large compared to some other Balkan countries,” Hill said, as reported by RTS and Kosovo Online. “I think Serbia must help some of these countries overcome historical legacies and a lack of trust.
“Once this is done, and I am confident it will happen, I think this initiative will be beneficial not only for Serbia but for all its neighbors,” Hill added.
