Serbian national airline Air Serbia launches Izmir and Lisbon routes

Serbian national airline Air Serbia continues its expansion run, having launched on April 15 a direct service between Belgrade and Izmir, which came on the same day as the new launch of a direct route to Lisbon.

“With the addition of Izmir to our network, we have further expanded Air Serbia’s presence in Turkey and brought the Balkans and Anatolia closer together,” said Boško Rupić, Air Serbia General Manager Commercial and Strategy.

“Not far from Izmir are some of the most popular summer resorts and historical monuments, which makes it even more interesting to tourists,” he added. “In the opposite direction of Izmir is the magical Lisbon.

“With today’s flight, we have opened the doors to the city where nostalgic and melancholic fado melodies are sang accompanied by guitar. You don’t have to understand the lyrics to feel the emotion. You only need to visit some of the ‘casas de fado’ in Alfama, Mouraria, or Bairro Alto areas, and you will quickly understand why Lisbon is one of the most popular destinations for tourists in the world.”

The national airline will be operating flights to the third largest city in Turkey twice a week, every Wednesday and Saturday, and flights to Portugal’s capital will be operated on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

Izmir is one of the oldest Turkish cities. It has always been a center of commerce and culture, and an important point in maritime routes. It has now become one of the most important port cities in the Mediterranean, decorated by impressive sandy beaches and the turquoise Aegean Sea. Thanks to the Mediterranean climate, it is sunny throughout the year.

From Izmir, via Belgrade, the airline offers good connections to Berlin, Frankfurt, Dusseldorf, Zurich, Vienna, Ljubljana, Zagreb, Budapest, Podgorica, Amsterdam, Paris, Rome, Milan and Nuremberg, according to an Air Serbia press release.
