Serbia will receive yet another shot in the arm in the form a a EUR 200 in financial aid, with much of this coming from an EU grant of 162 mln, with funds designated primarily for waste-water treatment and new sewer construction.
Serbian Minister of EU Integration Tanja Miscevic signed the agreement June 22 with her counterpart, EU representative Emanuele Giaufret, and a portion of the aid will be directed to a sewer system in the Zlatibor and Moravica districts.
Other monies will go to the country’s “green agenda,” to reforming public administration and dealing with displaced persons. Noteworthy is that some funds will be spent on reforming media law and the general media environment in Serbia, which has been much criticized by journalists, rights groups and the EU.
