Microsoft signs MoU with Serbian Ministry of Science; will employ another 60

The Serbian Ministry of Science has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Microsoft, which will bolster startups, Serbian research and Serbian students focusing on IT, according to the Serbian press.

Serbian Minister of Science and Technological Development Jelena Begovic signed the MoU with Microsoft Serbia’s Milan Gospic, which means that “all the innovative Microsoft solutions will now be available to Serbian researchers and students,” according to ekapija.com.

Likewise, the website added that Microsoft’s Serbian research and development center will soon add 60 jobs for Serbian engineers.

In June Microsoft celebrated 20 years in Serbia and at that time the company stated that nearly 700 employees and eight engineering teams work at the Microsoft Development Center in Serbia, focusing on the development and improvement of some of the most important Microsoft products such as cloud services and the development of generative artificial intelligence.

Gospic at the time said that “by organizing the first Sinergija conference in 2001, we recognized the immense talent and potential of the Serbian IT community,” according to a Microsoft June press release. “Our advanced technologies and expertise have positioned us at the forefront of shaping the digital image of Serbia.”
