Delta Holding and InterContinental Hotels & Resorts Group (IHG) have signed an agreement to bring the InterContinental brand back to Serbia. This significant deal paves the way for the construction of a five-star luxury hotel in the centre of Belgrade.
The signing ceremony took place in Belgrade and was attended by members of the Delta Holding board of directors and representatives from IHG’s European division. This partnership is seen as a major step towards enhancing Belgrade’s status as a premier tourist destination in the region. The return of the InterContinental brand is expected to significantly contribute to this goal, according to the statement.
Andrej Sovrović, a member of Delta Holding’s Executive Board and General Manager of the hotel division, stated, “As a successful partner in Ljubljana, we are excited to announce the construction of another five-star luxury hotel in Belgrade. This €100 million investment will further enhance the city’s infrastructure. Our goal is for this prestigious hotel to open by the end of 2026, just in time for EXPO 2027.”
Karin Sheppard, Senior Vice President and Managing Director of IHG Hotels & Resorts for Europe expressed her delight at the return of the InterContinental brand to Belgrade, noting, “Our strategic partnership with Delta Holding is incredibly important and reflects our shared commitment to elevating luxury hospitality in this region. With its rich cultural heritage and vibrant economy, Belgrade is the perfect location for a top-tier InterContinental hotel.”
Angelina Nekić, Vice President of Delta Holding and General Manager of Delta Real Estate, highlighted that the InterContinental Hotel will be the centrepiece of the Delta District complex. She added, “This project is a continuation of our investment cycle, which totals €250 million. The combination of a five-star hotel with residential and business apartments will establish new benchmarks in the luxury real estate market.”
