Green energy/biogas producer Wabio to begin construction of new plant in Nova Crnja

German biogas producer Wabio Investment Holding is set to break ground on the construction of a new production facility April 24, part of an overall plan to become a major contributor to Serb’s commitment to renewable energy through some EUR 400 mln in Serbian investment.

The Nova Crnja plant will represent some EUR 20 mln of this figure, and should be the first of 20 such plants in the country, with Wabio focusing on farm waste products, such as old straw, cow manure and plant stalks, which are converted effectively to energy.

A company press release noted that the Nova Crnja opening will be attended by Wabilo Investment Holding President Dusko Boskovic, Wabio Technologie GmbH President Raphael Fitz, German Ambassador Anke Konrad and Serbian Minister of Minding and Energy Dubravka Djedovic.

Serbia plans to increase the share of renewable energy to total energy to 40 percent by 2040.
