Serbia continued to make investment headlines in late September with plans for US electric automobile producer Rivian to open a R&D center, according to Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic. The center, which will be located in Belgrade, is the latest move by a company that Brnabic called “one of the most progressive” in the world, according to her Twitter feed, and there are plans for the R&D site to employ 200 under the newly formed Rivian SE Euope subsidiary.
That said, there is no available time line yet for actual vehicle production/sales in Serbia/Europe, with the automobile trade magazines noting that Rivian is playing its cards close to its chest.
US Rivian has plans to produce a total of 22,000 vehicles by the end of 2022, according to CNBC.com.
