Air Serbia is continuing aggressive expansion to match what is foreseen to be a positive tourist season next summer with four new routes to Italy to be added in 2023.
Commenting on new direct flights between Belgrade and Catania, Naples, Florence and Palermo, Bosko Rupic, general manager for commercial and strategy, Air Serbia, noted the Italian focus for the next summer season.
“We are continuing the trend of introducing new destinations in the summer season,” Rupic said. “Our presence in Italy will be expanded with four attractive destinations that will offer our travellers the opportunity to enjoy different types of vacations—from the unreal Dolomites and Alps in the north, through unique landscapes in Tuscany to the most beautiful beaches in the world in Sicily.
“This is just the beginning, you can expect more good news from Air Serbia in the coming days,” he added.
The timing could hardly be better with a new terminal scheduled to open at Belgrade’s Nikola Tesla Airport also next summer, according to Minister of Constructions and Transport Goran Vesic, as cited by ekapija.com.
“By the end of this year, the Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport will have six million passengers, which is a better result than the one from 2019, which was a record-setting year,” Vesic was reported as stating on the ministry website.
Capacity of the renovated airport will thus increase to 15 million passengers, triple what it was before the signing of the concession agreement with Vinci, when there were slightly over five million passengers. The company behind the new terminal construction, Vinci Airports, is lasted to implement an investment of EUR 732 mln in the airport terminal/renovation.
With regard to Air Serbia’s newly announced Italian routes, flights between Belgrade and Catania will commence on April 14, 2023 and will be operated on Mondays and Fridays, providing good connectivity via Belgrade, between Catania and Paris, Stockholm, Dusseldorf, Istanbul, Lyon, Zurich, Berlin, Amsterdam, Oslo, Tivat, Prague, Zagreb, Podgorica, Vienna, Stuttgart, Hanover, Copenhagen and other cities.
Starting on May 19, 2023, every Monday and Friday passengers will have the opportunity to fly to the main port city in southern Italy, Naples.
Flights between Belgrade and Florence will commence on May 20, 2023, on Tuesdays and Saturdays. From Florence, passengers will have the opportunity to travel, via Belgrade, to Amsterdam, Stockholm, Berlin, Brussels, Copenhagen, Zurich, Paris, Vienna, Ljubljana, Zagreb, Podgorica, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt, Istanbul and other destinations in the Air Serbia network.
Air Serbia will start operating flights to Palermo, the regional capital of Sicily, on June 14, 2023, every Wednesday and Saturday.
Air Serbia will thus provide good connections from Palermo, via Belgrade, to other cities in its network such as Dusseldorf, Zurich, Amsterdam, Paris, Istanbul, Vienna, Ljubljana, Zagreb, Berlin, Oslo and Stuttgart.
